There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness accurately. While some guests mentioned a welcome pack, there's no consistent detail on its contents or the presence of gifts to assess the level of thoughtfulness.

About this property

Nestled in the coastal village of Kilve, surrounded by the glorious Quantock hills, is this charming 17th Century thatched cottage; set a 15 minute walk from the stunning fossil coast, perfect for both small families or a romantic getaway for two.

Park up outside the enchanting cottage and easily manoeuvre your belongings inside. Enter through the stable door to discover the wonderful sitting room, full of traditionally features. The beamed ceilings and walls, exposed stone fireplace with an old bread oven and decorative wood-burning stove, make this rustic living area the perfect place to curl up on the sofa in front of the TV.

The quirky layout of this old cottage has been carefully thought out to provide a well equipped kitchen-diner, with a drop leaf table for more space when it's not in use; and the underfloor heating will keep you toasty as you prepare a hearty breakfast in the morning.

The bathroom is on the ground floor; and the utility area provides a handy washing machine to refresh your wardrobe throughout your holiday.

Find the stairs, hidden behind a door, to the double and single bedroom, also full of character with beamed & sloping ceilings.

On the ground-floor, gain access to the patio garden through the back door; an idyllic space in warmer months to enjoy a meal around the table, alfresco-style in the tranquility of the quaint village.

To explore the area, lace up your walking boots and embark on a fantastic nature walk around the scenic landscape of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or head to Jurassic Coast for spectacular views.

The village Pub, serving food has excellent reviews and the village post office and shop is well stocked.

A little further afield rests the coastal port of Watchet and the larger village of Williton, with more facilities; and they are both on the West Somerset Railway, where visitors can enjoy a a unique steam train experience.

If you are looking for a tranquil retreat near a stunning coastline then 1 Old Thatch is the idyllic base.

The village of Kilve is located in the Quantock Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, set a stone's throw away from the village of Williton. Sea Lane is an old route to the sea and the fossil laden shore. It passes the 'little white church' remarked upon by Wordsworth. Little will have changed since he and Coleridge visited the churchyard, or indeed, the old village hostelry. Perfect for a quiet getaway, yet close to larger towns and resorts, No 1 Thatch can be highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

Location good. Had a very enjoyable stay.

However , the place would be better served with a combi boiler and a bigger TV. Also the area itself has few amenities and the local beach is a joke !
